Job summary

The University of Iowa Health Care is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the Stead Family Children's Hospital NICU, Level 7. This 50% FTE position (20 hours per week) covers Evening/Nights and every 4th weekend, with a summer and winter holiday schedule.

The role supports nursing staff in direct patient care in a high-acuity NICU environment. Responsibilities include vital signs, bedside care, admissions/discharges, and maintaining clean, stocked units.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and follow instructions.

Responsibilities

• Take and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure).
• Assist with patient hygiene, positioning, and mobility.
• Support with admissions, transfers, and discharges.
• Transport patients, equipment, specimens, and supplies.
• Assist with baths, patient feeding, and nutrition intake documentation.
• Assist with basic nursing duties and maintain unit cleanliness and equipment.
