Job summary

The University of Iowa Health Care is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support the Nursing team at Stead Family Children's Hospital, Level 7, in Iowa City. This role provides vital signs collection, basic patient care and assistance under supervision.

Hours are 50% time (20 hours/week) with evenings/nights, every 4th weekend, one summer and one winter holiday. Benefits include a fringe package and retirement options.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and follow instructions.

Responsibilities

• Independently obtain and record vital signs (temp, pulse, respiration, blood pressure).
• Assist with patient admission, transfers and discharges; provide personal hygiene and comfort.
• Turn, position and ambulate patients; transport patients, equipment, specimens and supplies.
• Stock and supply patient rooms; assist with cleaning and preparation for procedures.
