Job summary

The University of Iowa is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support the Nursing team in the Stead Family Children’s Hospital NICU Level 7. This 50% - 20 hours/week role requires assisting with vital signs, asepsis, basic procedures, admissions, transfers, discharges, and patient comfort under supervision.

Responsibilities include bedside care, patient transport, equipment preparation, and collaboration with nurses during rounds and care conferences.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and follow instructions.
• Experience supporting nursing staff and patient care tasks is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and record vital signs including temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure.
• Assist with patient admission, transfers, and discharges.
• Provide for patients' personal hygiene and comfort.
• Turn, position and ambulate patients; transport patients and supplies.
• Stock and supply patient rooms; assist with daily care and essential procedures.
