Job summary

The University of Iowa Health Care, including Stead Family Children's Hospital NICU, is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support the nursing team under the Nurse Manager. This part-time role involves 20 hours per week with evening and night shifts and every 4th weekend.

Responsibilities include monitoring vital signs, basic patient care, hygiene, and assisting with admissions, transfers and discharges. On-campus role with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and follow instructions.

Responsibilities

• Independently obtain and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure).
• Perform medical asepsis during skills (phlebotomy, IV removal, Foley care) and assist isolated patients.
• Assist with admissions, transfers, discharges and patient hygiene.
• Turn, position and ambulate patients; transport supplies and specimens.
• Provide comfort measures and support to patients and document intake/output.
• Participate in nursing care conferences and report pertinent information.
