Job summary

The University of Iowa Health Care is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the Stead Family Children’s Hospital NICU. This 100% daytime position supports the nursing team under the supervision of the Nurse Manager.

Responsibilities include recording vital signs, assisting with hygiene, transporting patients and supplies, and aiding with admissions and discharges. Regular duties also cover feeding, hydration, and basic patient comfort, with emphasis on infection control and equipment

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and follow instructions.

Responsibilities

• Record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure).
• Assist with personal hygiene and comfort of patients.
• Transport patients, equipment, specimens and supplies.
• Assist in admissions, transfers and discharges.
• Assist with feeding and fluid intake recording.
• Maintain equipment and cleanliness of the unit.
• Participate in nursing care conferences and report pertinent information.
