The University of Iowa is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the Stead Family Children’s Hospital NICU. You will assist nursing staff in providing patient care under supervision, performing vital signs, aseptic tasks, and basic procedures while supporting admissions, transfers, and daily patient comfort.

The role is 100% time, 40 hours per week, nights with every 4th weekend and specified holiday coverage. On-site position in Iowa City with comprehensive benefits and retirement contributions.

Qualifikationen

• Ability to read, write and follow instructions.

Aufgaben

• Independently obtain and record vital signs including temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure.
• Carry out medical asepsis during procedures including phlebotomy, IV removal, and catheter care for isolated patients.
• Perform basic diagnostic/therapeutic tasks and wound/dressing changes as directed by nursing staff.
• Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges; support personal hygiene and comfort.
• Turn, position, and ambulate patients; transport patients, equipment, and supplies.
• Help with meals, hydration, and recording intake/output.
• Participate in nursing conferences and report pertinent information and incidents.
