Job summary

Methodist Mansfield Medical Center is seeking a Special Care Nursery Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to provide advanced respiratory care to neonates and adults in a high-acuity NICU setting. You will perform ABG, PFTs, and various ventilator supports under medical direction, ensuring safety and quality of care.

The ideal candidate holds an accredited Respiratory Care Program credential, active Texas RCP license, NBRC registration, and current BLS/ACLS.

Qualifications

• NICU/Special Care Nursery experience required.
• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
• NRP and Pediatric Advanced Life Support must be obtained within 1 year of hire.
• Texas license as Respiratory Care Practitioner in good standing.
• Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
• At least 6 months of respiratory care experience.

Responsibilities

• Administer and adjust respiratory therapies: oxygen, aerosols, humidity, IPPB, ventilator support.
• Perform arterial blood gas analysis, pulse oximetry, PFTs, and ECGs.
• Prepare treatment evaluations with bedside assessment and chart review.
• Apply critical thinking to care plans and patient data.
• Interpret CXR, ABG, and PFT data when reviewing results.
• Assemble, check, operate, and troubleshoot cardiopulmonary equipment.
• Participate in infection control, safety, and quality assurance tasks.
• Perform cleaning and maintenance of equipment and work areas.
• Use effective patient scripting to improve satisfaction and outcomes.
• Undertake other duties as required.
