St. David’s North Austin Medical Center in Austin, TX seeks a Transition Registered Nurse (RN) in Newborn Nursery to coordinate and provide direct patient care during the two-hour transition after birth, advocate for newborns, and monitor stability.

The role requires 1 year of RN experience, 1 year in newborn/mother baby/NICU or transition, and Texas RN license with BLS and NRP certifications; mentoring care teams, administering meds, assisting with breastfeeding, and developing care plans to

Qualifications

• 1 year of clinical nursing experience as an RN.
• 1 year of experience in Newborn, Mother Baby, NICU, or Newborn Transition care.
• Second skill-set can include Labor and Delivery, Mother Baby, and/or NICU.

Responsibilities

• Attend deliveries to advocate for newborns during the transition.
• Perform head-to-toe assessments and monitor newborn stability.
• Administer medications, monitor glucose and SaO2, and collect labs as needed.
• Mentor Labor and Delivery and Mother Baby nurses during busy times.
• Develop care plans to promote newborn wellness.
