Job summary

St. David’s HealthCare in Austin, TX seeks a Postpartum Registered Nurse to educate and assist new mothers during the postpartum period, caring for both mother and baby on the Mother Baby Unit.

Requires current TX RN license, BLS and NRP; 1 year RN experience and acute care preferred; ADN is required with BSN preferred. The role emphasizes patient education and teamwork in a high‑quality care environment.

Qualifications

• 1 year of clinical nursing experience as a Registered Nurse.
• 1 year of acute care experience - preferred.
• Associates Degree of Nursing.
• BSN – preferred.
• Current State of Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact RN license; Texas license within 90 days of hire.
• BLS certification required per St. David’s Healthcare policy.
• NRP certification required per St. David’s Healthcare policy.
• RNC –OB – preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments of mother and baby following standards of care.
• Plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans to optimize outcomes.
• Provide direct nursing care and supervise non-licensed staff within RN scope of practice.
• Educate and emotionally support patients, recognizing postpartum depression symptoms.
