St. David's North Austin Medical Center in Austin, TX is seeking a Transition Registered Nurse (RN) in the Newborn Nursery to coordinate and provide direct patient care during the critical two-hour transition after delivery.

You will advocate for newborn needs, assess safe life adjustments, monitor stability, and document assessments. This role includes completing initial head-to-toe assessments, administering medications, supporting breastfeeding decisions, reassessing respiratory status, and

Qualifications

• 1 year of clinical nursing experience as an RN.
• 1 year of experience in Newborn, Mother Baby, NICU, or Newborn Transition care setting.
• Second skill-set can include Labor and Delivery, Mother Baby, and/or NICU.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and provide direct patient care during the two-hour transition period after delivery.
• Assign Apgars and facilitate skin-to-skin bonding for at least 1 hour.
• Assist with breastfeeding or feeding choices during the first hour and beyond.
• Assess newborn respiratory status and thermoregulation per NICU guidelines.
• Develop care plans to promote newborn wellness and administer medications as needed.
• Mentor Labor and Delivery and Mother Baby nurses during busy times.
