Job summary

St. David's North Austin Medical Center is seeking a Postpartum Registered Nurse to educate and assist new mothers during the postpartum period and to support newborn care on the Mother Baby Unit.

You will perform assessments, develop and evaluate care plans, and supervise staff while providing education and emotional support tailored to age and culture, including recognizing postpartum depression.

Qualifications

• 1 year of clinical nursing experience as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• 1 year of acute care experience preferred.
• Licenses and certifications include Texas RN license, BLS and NRP; RNC-OB preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments for mother and baby following standards of care.
• Plan, implement and evaluate care plans to optimize outcomes and resources.
• Provide direct nursing care and supervise non-licensed staff within RN scope.
• Educate and support mothers for physical and emotional needs, recognizing postpartum depression.

Education

Associates Degree of Nursing

BSN – preferred

Texas RN license

BLS certification

NRP certification

RNC-OB – preferred
