Job summary

MedStar Washington Hospital Center is seeking a Newborn Hearing Screener to join our team. You will provide newborn hearing screening under the supervision of a licensed Audiologist and perform clerical/administrative duties as directed.

Responsibilities include conducting screenings, data entry, equipment maintenance, and participation in committee activities and outreach efforts within the hospital and community.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Some experience with computers preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct newborn hearing screenings using otoacoustic emissions and automated auditory brainstem response testing equipment.
• Identifies which babies to screen and follows correct infant handling procedures.
• Performs data management duties related to the screening program. Enter screening results into the tracking system and follow-up letters are generated and mailed to the appropriate people.
• Maintains newborn hearing screening equipment, following manufacturer guidelines and infection control protocol.
• Participates in meetings and committees and represents the department and hospital in community outreach efforts.
