Job summary

MedStar Washington Hospital Center is seeking a Newborn Hearing Screener to join our team. You will provide newborn hearing screening under the supervision of a licensed Audiologist and perform clerical/administrative duties as directed.

Responsibilities include conducting screenings, data entry, equipment maintenance, and participation in committee activities and outreach efforts within the hospital and community.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Some experience with computers preferred.

• Participates in meetings and committees and represents the department and hospital in community outreach efforts.

MedStar Health is looking for a Newborn Hearing Screener to join our team at MedStar Washington Hospital Center!

As a Newborn Hearing Screener, you will provide newborn hearing screening under the supervision of a licensed Audiologist and perform clerical/administrative and office support functions as directed.

Primary Duties

1. Conduct newborn hearing screenings using both otoacoustic emissions and automated auditory brainstem response testing equipment.


2. Identifies which babies to screen and follows correct infant handling procedures. Screening is done according to written clinic protocol as evidenced by competency-based skills training.


3. Performs data management duties related to the screening program. Enter screening results into the tracking system and follow-up letters are generated and mailed to the appropriate people.


4. Maintains newborn hearing screening equipment, following appropriate manufacturer guidelines and infection control protocol.


5. Participates in meetings and on committees and represents the department and hospital in community outreach efforts. Participates in multi-disciplinary quality and service improvement teams.
