Job summary

Pediatrix Medical Group is seeking a Newborn Hearing Screen Technician to perform newborn hearing screens in hospital settings, providing essential education to parents about the importance of early intervention. On-the-job training includes annual American Academy of Audiology certification, with duties spanning data collection, document submission, and ensuring high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
• Ability to prioritize daily tasks and assignments.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Flexibility to work on weekends and national holidays.
• Ability to frequently lift up to 25 pounds and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Stand/walk frequently (95% of shift) and push/pull up to 100 pounds.
• Demonstrate sensitivity when speaking to family and handling patients.
• Computer proficiency and accurate data entry.

Responsibilities

• Perform newborn hearing screens in hospital settings.
• Collect patient data and demographics for each baby and document accordingly.
• Provide education to parents on the relevance of hearing screens and early intervention.
• Notify Site Supervisor of missed or final refer babies and schedule outpatient follow-ups when needed.
• Upload screen results and state reporting by end of each shift with reconciled statistics.
• Maintain efficient screening workflow without compromising quality or patient education.
• Ensure information is communicated to the responsible party and that parents understand results.
