Job summary

Pediatrix Medical Group in Winchester, VA is seeking a Newborn Hearing Screen Technician to perform hospital-based hearing screens for newborns and educate families on the importance of early intervention.

This on-site, very part-time role (<20 hours/week) offers daytime/afternoon shifts, occasional weekends, on-the-job training, and certification accreditation by the American Academy of Audiology.

The position requires excellent communication, reliability, and ability to handle data entry and patient education with compassion.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Current CPR Certification or must obtain upon offer.
• Flexibility to work on weekends and national holidays required.

Responsibilities

• Perform newborn hearing screens and provide education to parents on the relevance of hearing screens and the importance of early intervention.
• Evaluate each patient for “screen readiness” prior to performing a screen; screen only ready babies.
• Collect all necessary data/demographics; perform screens during each shift; ensure documentation protocol is followed.
• Treat each screened baby and family with appropriate care and consideration.
• Upload screen results/billing/state reporting by end of each shift and reconcile statistics.
• Perform screens efficiently while maintaining quality and patient education/satisfaction.
• Notify Site Supervisor of missed and refer babies.
• Schedule outpatient appointments for referred babies when appropriate.
