Job summary

UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill is offering a Medicine Progressive Care Unit New Graduate RN Residency. This yearlong, structured transition-to-practice program supports final semester nursing students or graduates within the past 12 months.

Position is 36 hours per week with rotating day/night shifts and weekends. Eligible NC RN licensure required before start; internal candidates for UNC Health employees only. Up to $10,000 relocation assistance may be offered.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a school of professional nursing.
• If hired after January 6, 2014, must be enrolled within four years of employment, and obtain a Bachelor's degree with a major in Nursing or a Master's degree with a major in Nursing within seven years of employment date.

Responsibilities

• Education - Participates in identifying and meeting learning needs of self.
• Evaluation of Care - Identifies expected patient outcomes; participates in interdisciplinary evaluation.
• Implementation - Demonstrates competence in care of patients with complex problems and safety aspects of care.
• Leadership - Develops goals to promote professional growth and collaborates across departments.
• Patient Assessment - Prioritizes care needs and discharge planning considerations.
• Planning - Prepares or updates the plan of care with multidisciplinary resources.
• Research - Reads journals and brings ideas to staff for applicability.

Education

Graduation from a school of professional nursing.

Bachelor's degree within 7 years of employment (for education requirement)
