Job summary

UNC Health Johnston PCU in Smithfield, NC is seeking Summer New Grad RNs for 2027 start dates (June–August). The Progressive Care Unit provides intermediate care with cardiac monitoring and 19 beds. Role includes education, care planning, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, with night shifts and a 36-hour work week.

Graduation timing and NCLEX dates basis will affect start date. This is a full-time, onsite position under UNC Health with a nurse-specific incentive program and

Qualifications

• Graduation from school of professional nursing.
• Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.

Responsibilities

• Education – identifies learning needs and attends education programs; uses patient education materials relevant to patient population.
• Evaluation of Care – identifies expected patient outcomes; participates in evaluation with the interdisciplinary team.
• Implementation – provides care for patients with complex problems and ensures safety and adherence to policies.
• Leadership – supports professional growth and unit goals; promotes collaboration and efficient communication.
• Planning – collaborates with patient/family to update the plan of care and coordinate with multidisciplinary resources.
• Research – engages with journals and brings ideas to the staff for applicability.
