Job summary

UNC Health's UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill seeks a New Graduate RN for the Medicine Specialty Unit, a 36-hour-per-week residency opportunity designed for winter graduates.

The program features rotating day and night shifts with weekends, self-scheduling, mentorship, unit-based orientation, and a yearlong transition-to-practice curriculum; eligibility includes final semester nursing students or graduates within 12 months and less than 6 months of RN experience.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a Board of Nursing approved nursing education program.
  • Eligible for NC RN licensure prior to start date.
  • Final semester students or graduates within 12 months of graduation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide evidence-based nursing care to patients in the Medicine Specialty Unit.
  • Coordinate care with the interdisciplinary team for complex cases.
  • Participate in education and training activities as part of residency.
  • Document patient progress and adjust plans as needed.
  • Engage in mentorship and unit-based orientation throughout the program.
