Job summary

TriStar Horizon Medical Center in Dickson, TN offers a Nurse Residency program to transition new graduates to competent registered nurses. The program combines classroom learning with clinical experiences across acute care specialties and a formalized mentorship model.

Residents gain exposure in cardiopulmonary, surgical, medical, NICU and critical care areas, guided by experienced nurse educators and preceptors, with ongoing evaluations and project work.

Qualifications

• Basic certifications in BLS and ACLS required within specified timeframes.
• RN licensure or active Graduate Nurse status in the state.
• Nursing degree from an accredited program.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient condition on admission and each shift, report changes promptly.
• Perform procedures, monitoring, and document care in the medical record.
• Administer prescribed medications and monitor therapeutic response.
• Respond promptly to patient requests and anticipate needs.
• Educate patients and families about condition, plan, medications and follow-up.
