Scholastic Book Fairs are in-person experiences that empower kids to discover books for themselves. Taking place in schools and rooted in Scholastic’s mission to use the power of books for the betterment of all kids, Fairs bring communities together.

Each year, Scholastic Book Fairs hosts 110,000 pop-up shops that raise over $200 million for schools. We are committed to inspiring kids toward greatness and ensuring everyone involved feels seen, respected, and welcomed.

We are seeking New Business Sales Representatives to help expand our Book Fair business. Job Overview: If you are passionate about education and creating impactful experiences, join us as a New Business Sales Representative. Your role will involve prospecting and building relationships with schools to promote reading and support fundraising efforts.

Primary Objectives:

  • Prospecting: Research and identify potential school and district partners. Initiate outreach via calls, emails, and social media to decision-makers like Principals and School Administrators.
  • Lead Qualification: Understand prospects' needs, set appointments, and pass qualified leads to Account Managers.
  • Relationship Building: Develop rapport with educators, emphasizing the value of Scholastic Reading Events.
  • Pipeline Management: Keep accurate records in CRM and track progress toward goals.
  • Collaboration and Strategy: Work with the sales team to refine outreach strategies and stay informed on industry trends.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Book events within assigned territories, identify opportunities through grants and partnerships, and coordinate revenue activities.
  • Maintain records and prioritize tasks to meet goals.
  • Support customer satisfaction and execute sales strategies effectively.

Customer Focus:

  • Build customer relationships, understand requirements, and meet needs through our products and services.
  • Address customer concerns promptly and seek feedback to improve service.

Teamwork:

  • Partner with Operations, share updated customer info, and foster collaboration.
  • Contribute to team performance and suggest improvements.

Functional Expertise/Personal Effectiveness:

  • Support our mission and demonstrate our values.
  • Implement new technologies and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Maintain confidentiality and attend events as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Business, Marketing, or related field.
  • At least 3 years of successful sales experience, especially in retail or territory sales.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and CRM software.
  • Knowledge of children’s literature and school activities is a plus.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and sales strategy skills.
