Battelle Energy Alliance invites students for an internship at the Idaho National Laboratory, applying stochastic neutronics modeling to relate neutron fluence in the beryllium reflector to observed age-related effects. This work aims to better characterize aging in reflector regions that are difficult to inspect.

The team operates onsite at the Advanced Test Reactor campus on a 4x10 schedule. Start date and duration vary by project, with potential course credit available for eligible students.

Qualificações

• Enrolled full-time in an ABET-accredited program (CS, Nuclear Eng or related STEM).
• Minimum overall 3.0 GPA required.
• Authorization to work in the U.S. (including CPT/OPT).
• Resume/CV and unofficial transcripts must be provided.
• Current class schedule and credits must be included.

Responsabilidades

• Leverage stochastic neutronics modeling results to correlate neutron fluence with aging effects in the reflector.
• Characterize aging in reflector regions not accessible to inspection using benchmark data from past inspections.
• Assist in documenting findings and potential impacts on reactor materials aging.
