Job summary

Orthopedic Centers of Colorado is seeking a Scheduler to manage patient appointments for visits, diagnostic tests, referrals, and surgeries. The role includes obtaining referrals and pre-authorizations, documenting calls in the EMR, and ensuring smooth flow of clinical information with patients, providers, and facilities.

You will verify insurance eligibility, schedule pre-op clearances, follow up on authorizations, and coordinate follow-up appointments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma.
• 2 years surgery scheduling/prior authorization experience required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Effective customer relations, ability to organize and interpret data.
• Good judgment, tact, diplomacy, and problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Schedule patient appointments for visits, diagnostic tests, referrals and/or consults, and any surgical procedures.
• Obtain referral and/or insurance authorization/pre-certification approvals.
• Document patient calls via electronic medical record notes.
• Verify insurance eligibility, benefits and requirements with carriers.
• Request, track and obtain pre-authorizations within time allotted.
• Schedule surgery and related facility paperwork; coordinate pre-admission testing.
• Escort patients, check-in/out, and obtain vitals; maintain HIPAA compliance.
• Communicate insurance changes or trends to the team; maintain productivity.
