Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health in New Jersey is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join the Neurosciences APP team within the CBMC division. The APP will function as an independent care provider in collaboration with neurosurgery, delivering comprehensive assessments and neurosurgical care.

The role requires an active NJ APN or PA license with prescriptive authority and national NP/PA certification, with ACLS and BLS, plus DEA/CDS as applicable.

Qualifications

• Masters or Doctoral degree from an accredited APN/PA program.
• Active New Jersey APN or PA license with prescriptive authority.
• National certification as NP or PA (AANP/ANCC or NCCPA).

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive inpatient neurosurgical care and management.
• 2
• Order, interpret and communicate lab and imaging results to guide decisions.
• Manage neurosurgical drains and CSF diversion systems per protocols.
• Perform bedside procedures within scope and credentialing.
• Coordinate preoperative evaluations and obtain clearances for surgery.
• Assist in the operating room as delegated and within scope.
• Oversee postoperative care, pain control, and discharge planning.
• Attend rounds, document progress, and adjust plans as needed.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize outcomes.
• Participate in quality improvement and clinical workflow development.
