Job summary

VHC Health in Arlington, VA is seeking a Medical Assistant in Neurosurgery to support clinical operations, prep patients, perform phlebotomy, take vital signs, and assist with procedures. You will help with phones, scheduling, billing support, and documentation in the electronic medical record.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or equivalent, six months healthcare experience, and BLS certification; completion of a medical assisting program is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Graduation from a medical assisting degree/program is preferred.
• Six months of healthcare experience is required.
• One year of healthcare/medical - primary care/office experience is preferred.
• One year of medical terminology experience is required.
• Knowledge of the Bloodborne Pathogen Standard is required.
• Experience in clinical pharmacology is required.

Responsibilities

• Maintains clinical areas: cleans, stocks, and prepares for patient care.
• Performs phlebotomy and prepares specimens for lab transport.
• Takes vital signs and prepares patients for procedures.
• Assists with patient flow and supports physicians and staff.
• Answers phones, schedules appointments, and collects co-pays.
• Assists with billing and updates electronic medical records.
