Job summary

VHC Health in Arlington, VA is seeking a Medical Assistant to support clinical operations. The role handles cleaning and stocking the clinical space, performs phlebotomy, prepares specimens, and supports patient flow and the execution of procedures.

You will take vital signs, assist with appointments, collect co-pays and payments, assist with billing, and enter information into the electronic medical record, while maintaining compliance with safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Medical assisting degree/program preferred.
• Six months of healthcare experience required.
• One year of healthcare/primary care office experience preferred.
• One year of medical terminology experience required.
• Knowledge of Bloodborne Pathogen Standard required.
• Experience in clinical pharmacology required.
• Medical Assistant Certification or EMT preferred.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure clinical environment is cleaned, stocked and ready for patient care.
• Perform phlebotomy and prepare specimens for lab transport.
• Conduct simple laboratory procedures and take vital signs.
• Prepare patients for procedures and assist with patient flow.
• Answer phones, make appointments and collect co-pays/payments.
• Assist with billing and add information to the electronic medical record.
