Job summary

VHC Health in Arlington, VA is seeking a Medical Assistant to maintain a clean, stocked clinical area, perform phlebotomy, take vital signs, prepare patients for procedures, and support physicians and staff.

You will answer phones, assist with scheduling, handle co-pays and billing, and ensure accurate entries in the electronic medical record.

Preferred candidates have a Medical Assisting credential and BLS, with 6 months healthcare experience and knowledge of medical terminology.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Graduation from a medical assisting degree/program is preferred.
• Six Months Of Healthcare Experience Is Required.
• One year of healthcare/medical - primary care/office experience is preferred.
• One Year Of Medical Terminology Experience Is Required.
• Knowledge of the Bloodborne Pathogen Standard is required.
• Experience In Clinical Pharmacology Is Required.
• Medical Assistant Certification or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is preferred.
• BLS certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure clinical environment is clean, stocked, and ready for patient care.
• Take vital signs and prepare patients for procedures.
• Perform phlebotomy and prepare specimens for lab transport.
• Assist with patient flow and support physicians and staff.
• Answer phones, schedule appointments, and collect co-pays and payments.
• Assist with billing and add information to the electronic medical record.
