Job summary

University of California - Santa Barbara is seeking a Junior Specialist to contribute to neuroscience and behavior research, focusing on the biobehavioral effects of repeated stimulant and alcohol exposure. You will help design studies and run rat and mouse experiments on self-administration, cognition, and anxiety.

The role includes immunoblotting and immunohistochemistry with image analysis, training undergraduates, data management, and presenting findings at lab meetings and conferences.

Qualifications

  • Applicants must have completed or be currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Neuroscience or a related field at the time of application.
  • At least 12 months of experience working in a research setting with rats and/or mice as research subjects.
  • Experience in standard laboratory techniques, including immunoblotting and/or immunohistochemistry.
  • Candidates must be able to work both independently and in collaboration with others, have strong multi-tasking, problem-solving, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with study design and perform rat and mouse behavioral studies of drug self-administration, cognition, and anxiety.
  • Perform immunoblotting and immunohistochemical procedures with image analysis.
  • Assist with training undergraduate student RAs, data management, and statistical analysis.
  • Support the PI and research team with presentations at lab meetings and conferences.
