Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Medical Assistant II to provide clinical support in the Neurology clinic. Responsibilities include taking vital signs, performing EKGs and phlebotomy, assisting with injections, and maintaining patient records in the EMR.

Must have MA credential and BLS; high school diploma required. The role offers day shift, non-exempt status, and opportunities for signing bonus eligibility.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Medical Assistant credential approved by MA Department of Health (ARMA, NHA, etc.).
• BLS/Heart Saver certification required or obtained within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to exam rooms and record vital signs per standard procedures.
• Perform EKGs, phlebotomy, and Point of Care tests per clinic standards.
• Prepare and administer non-intravenous injections as directed.
• Assist in routine physical exams and clinical procedures.
• Review and escalate abnormal lab results to physicians promptly.
• Maintain patient care rooms and equipment, and assist with workflow coordination.
• Process prescriptions and refills as directed; manage patient records in EMR.
• Coordinate with insurers for pre-authorization and referrals as needed.
