Job summary

UPMC University of Pittsburgh Physicians is seeking a dedicated Full-Time Medical Assistant to support Mercy Neurology. The role includes assisting physicians, handling clerical tasks, preparing exam rooms, and maintaining infection control to ensure patient satisfaction.

Work hours Monday–Friday daytime at UPMC Mercy; training provided to assist the Stroke Clinic on the 3rd floor and to coordinate patient flow, tests, and documentation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology.
• Experience with patient intake, examinations and treatment room responsibilities.
• CPR/BLS certifications and clearances per policy.

Responsibilities

• Send/receive patient records in compliance with HIPAA and regulations.
• Obtain lab/x-ray reports, schedule appointments, verify insurance, and file charts.
• Prepare patient rooms and maintain infection control and supply inventory.
• Assist patients with transfers, collecting specimens, and preparing for exams.
• Answer calls and provide patient education as directed.
• Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and clinic procedures under supervision.
