Job summary

UPMC Physician Services is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant to support a pediatric team. You will assist physicians with patient care, handle clerical tasks, and help ensure patient satisfaction in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology.
• CPR certification within 30 days of hire.
• Required clearances: Act 31/33/34, Act 73 and FBI clearance with renewal.

Responsibilities

• Send/receive patient records in compliance with HIPAA and regulations.
• Obtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, and referrals; schedule appointments; verify insurance and patient demographics; manage charts.
• Prepare patient rooms and instruments; maintain infection control; restock supplies and organize exam rooms.
• Coordinate patient flow; accompany patients to exam rooms; assist with transfers, vitals, and specimen collection.
• Answer calls and provide patient education as directed.
• Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and basic labs; assist physicians with procedures; document in medical records.
• Comply with OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health; maintain confidentiality.
• Under supervision, administer injectable medications and vaccines when appropriate.
