Job summary

UPMC Orthopaedic Surgery in Pittsburgh is seeking a Medical Assistant to join the Foot & Ankle team at Mercy Hospital. The role involves back office and front office duties, patient flow, vitals, and chart management under provider supervision.

Morning to afternoon hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with no evenings or weekends required. Prior Medical Assistant experience is preferred to support HIPAA-compliant patient care and clinic procedures.

Qualifications

• Responsibility for back office and front office duties.
• Comply with HIPAA and health system policies.

Responsibilities

• Send/receive patient records in accordance with HIPAA and regulations.
• Obtain lab/x-ray reports, histories, and schedule appointments.
• Prepare patient rooms and maintain infection control between visits.
• Assist with patient walking, transfers, prep for exam, and vitals collection.
• Answer patient inquiries and provide education as directed.
• Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and basic labs; document in EMR.
