Job summary

Advocate Health Care in Illinois seeks an experienced EEG Technician to perform and interpret electroencephalograms, ambulatory EEGs and intraoperative monitoring as part of a neurodiagnostic team. You will prepare patients, gather histories, explain procedures, and collaborate with physicians to ensure accurate test results.

This role requires knowledge of electrode placement, artifact recognition, and adherence to lab standards.

Excellent interpersonal and patient service skills.
Intermediate computer skills.

Responsibilities

Performs electroencephalograms (EEG) and portable inpatient EEGs with electrode placements and calibration.
Prepares patients and gathers history, explains procedures to patients and families.
Performs procedures following lab standards; adjusts controls, montages and activation procedures as needed.
Recognizes and documents artifacts; takes measures to monitor artifacts.
Develops and standardizes neurodiagnostic tests for clinic use.
May perform intraoperative monitoring under supervision.
May perform ambulatory EEG monitoring and other modalities per site needs.
Assists physicians in outpatient clinics with Nerve Conduction Studies and EMGs as needed.
Performs Cerebral Death Evaluation studies.
May perform TCD as required.
Troubleshoots equipment and reports issues to supervisor.
Demonstrates age-appropriate care according to department policies.
