Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a skilled neurodiagnostic technician to perform electroencephalograms (EEG) including ambulatory and inpatient tests. You will prepare patients, explain procedures, and collect histories to tailor testing.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 1 year experience in neurodiagnostics or related field.
• BLS certification for Healthcare Providers issued by AHA to be obtained within 6 months unless exempt by supervisor.
• Excellent interpersonal and patient service skills.
• Intermediate computer skills and basic data entry ability.

Responsibilities

• Perform and maintain competency in EEGs and portable inpatient EEGs with correct electrode placement.
• May conduct ambulatory EEG monitoring and related procedures based on site needs.
• Prepare patient and gather comprehensive history to inform testing.
• Follow lab standards and adjust settings to obtain optimal recordings.
• Identify and document artifacts, and monitor for quality control of data.
• Troubleshoot equipment problems and report to supervisor when needed.
• Handle clerical duties: scheduling, archiving, and charge entry.
• Assist with patient positioning and handling, including safe lifting and transfers.
• Provide age-appropriate care and document patient status according to department policies.
