Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX, is seeking a Surgical Tech (Neuro) to support neurosurgical procedures. The role involves preparing the OR, maintaining sterile technique, and assisting the RN circulator throughout the procedure.

Requirements include a High School diploma, CST certification or equivalent training, and BLS. One year of surgical tech experience and neurology exposure are preferred; shift details are to be determined as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• CST certification or completion of an approved surgical technology program and BLS required.
• One year of surgical tech experience; neurology experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the RN circulator with preparing the operating room and communicate patient status.
• Select, inspect, and open surgical supplies and equipment.
• Perform surgical hand scrub and gowning of self and others.
• Maintain sterile field and aseptic technique during procedures.
• Check equipment for proper functioning before procedures.
• Perform instrument counts with RN circulator at designated intervals.
• Pass instruments and anticipate surgeon needs during procedures.
• Prepare instruments for terminal sterilization and assist with turnover.
