Job summary

CommonSpirit Health in Lakewood, CO is hiring a Certified Surgical Tech for the Neuro Team to support complex brain and spine procedures under surgeon and RN supervision. You will arrange sterile instruments, pass items to the team, assist with patient prep and room turnover, and maintain instrument sterility throughout cases.

Requirements include a surgical technician program, NBSTSA or NCCT certification, Colorado registration if applicable, and BLS.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedure.
• Maintains highest standard of sterile technique during procedure by checking package integrity, indicators and opening procedures.
• Holds retractors or instruments, sponges or suctions operative site, applies electrocautery to clamps on bleeders, cuts suture material, connects drains to suction apparatus and applies dressings to a wound.
• Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation, before incision is closed and as needed.
• Prepare back table and mayo stand anticipating needs of the surgeon and through the use of the surgeon’s preference card.
• Prepares solutions and medications used.
