Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA, seeks a Patient Care Technician for the Medicine Unit. This full-time night shift (12-hour shifts) runs 7 PM to 7 AM with rotating weekends and holidays.

The role includes patient care, vital signs, phlebotomy, EKG testing, and specimen collection under RN direction. Qualifications include a High School Diploma or equivalent and multiple certification options (CNA, NCMA, NCPCT, EMR/EMS/EMT/AEMT/Paramedic, or RN/LPN/RT/PT prospective students).

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required) AND one of the listed certifications or programs.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire.
• One year of health care experience (Preferred).

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care and support activities of daily living.
• Monitor vital signs, mobility, and ambulation.
• Assist with phlebotomy, specimen collection, EKG testing.
• Perform Foley catheter insertion/removal and IV removal under RN supervision.
