Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is hiring a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for the Progressive Ventilator Support Unit (PVSU). This full-time night-shift role involves 12-hour shifts 7:00pm–7:00am with rotating weekends in Norfolk, VA.

The PCT provides bedside patient care, assists with daily living activities, monitors vital signs, and supports phlebotomy, EKG testing, and specimen collection under RN supervision. A variety of certifications and a high school diploma are accepted.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required) with one of the listed certifications or programs
• AHA BLS certification within 90 days of hire
• One year of health care experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care and support activities of daily living
• Monitor vitals, mobility and ambulation; assist with phlebotomy and specimen collection
• Perform EKG testing and IV removal as directed by RN
• Report changes in patient condition to nursing staff
