Job summary

McLaren Health Care in Lansing, MI, seeks a Nursing Assistant to support Neuro department care under RN supervision. Shifts are days, 7a-7p, full-time with 72 hours bi-weekly. The role includes routine patient care, data collection, and basic procedures in a busy hospital setting.

Required are a high school diploma or equivalent, and BLS certification; various approved education paths are listed for those without six months of nursing assistant experience. Prior patient care is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent required.
• Specialized education options if not meeting minimum six-month nursing assistant experience include acute care nursing assistant course, long term care nursing assistant course, EMT program, medical assistant program, or clinical rotation in an accredited nursing program.
• Direct patient care experience preferred; if not, at least six months nursing assistant experience is required when specialized education is not met.
• BLS certification as Healthcare Provider or MTN equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Provides routine patient care services such as call light response; ambulating, transferring, and positioning; personal hygiene assistance; prescribed bowel and bladder program assistance.
• Collects, records, and reports various patient data. Reports changes in patient condition.
• Performs surgical skin preps, basic skin care procedures, bedside finger stick blood sugars, and quality control checks of blood glucose instruments.
