Job summary

Pepperdine University is seeking a Network Technician to oversee the campus cable plant, telephone, voicemail, and data networks. You will assign and move services, monitor performance, and handle billing entries with accuracy.

You will provide Tier-1 and Tier-2 support, resolve outages with vendors, and document configurations and procedures. The role requires strong communication, teamwork, and a customer-focused approach on a 40-hour work week.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma and three (3) or more years of experience in telecommunications and basic networking background skills.
  • Ability to install, maintain, support, repair, analyze, diagnose, and test telecommunications and data equipment, services, appliances, rack systems, and other associated hardware to meet established procedures and best practices.
  • Ability to install, test, and repair appropriate network, telecommunications, and data cabling and wiring.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and administer network, phone, and related services for university locations and client workstations.
  • Provide Tier-1 and Tier-2 support and troubleshoot voice/data networks, data electronics, and cable plant.
  • Maintain IT billing systems database and process work orders with cost estimates and audits.
  • Collaborate with vendors and service providers to resolve outages and optimize performance.
  • Prepare documentation such as network diagrams and procedures for ongoing operations.
  • Represent IT in a professional manner with internal and external stakeholders.
