Job summary

The State of South Carolina's DMV IT division in Blythewood seeks a Network Technician II to support and secure the agency's data network. You will work across departments to configure, deploy, and maintain switching and routing infrastructure while ensuring best practices and security.

You will handle WLAN and VPN setups and coordinate with third-party providers for service delivery and issue resolution. You will also assist with incident response, maintain detailed network documentation, and

Qualifications

• High school diploma with IT/electronics experience or higher; degree may substitute.
• Excellent written and verbal skills.
• Willingness to travel overnight occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Configure, deploy, install, monitor, troubleshoot and maintain the agency's switching and routing infrastructure devices and software; review logs to ensure best practices.
• Monitor network resources and report troubles; use system software to determine network status and upgrade management software on NOC servers.
• Coordinate with third party providers for orders of new service and resolution of outages across data/voice/power.
• Assist with WLAN, remote connectivity, VPN user setup and trouble resolution; coordinate with providers.
• Support ISIRT team activities; document incidents and respond to emails; assist in design, implementation and management of LAN/WAN/WLAN networks.
• Maintain detailed documentation of network architecture, configurations, and incident resolutions.
• Assist in agency telephony support including moves/adds/changes, trouble reporting and resolution.
