Job summary

Brilliant Computers in Mayville, ND seeks a Network Hands & Feet Engineer to provide onsite support enabling remote troubleshooting and remediation. You will connect to network devices, locate ports, power cycle as instructed, and report LED and link status.

Qualified applicants have a Bachelor’s or Diploma in a related field, 2+ years of enterprise network experience, knowledge of TCP/IP, VLANs, switches, routers and firewalls, and the ability to follow documented procedures and work

• Strong troubleshooting and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel to customer locations.

Responsibilities

• Provide physical onsite assistance to enable remote troubleshooting and remediation.

• Open racks, locate devices/ports, and power cycle per guidance.
• Verify LED status, link status, and report issues.
• Rack mount/unmount devices per site rules and safety practices.
• Patch and dress cables to professional standards as instructed.
• Coordinate with Remote Support Team for post-install verification.
• Perform basic configuration actions as directed (IP/VLAN).

Job description

Hands & Feet (H&F) Support

• Physical onsite assistance to enable remote troubleshooting and remediation.
• Console connectivity to network devices (switch/router/firewall) as instructed by the RemoteSupport Team.
• Providing physical access support to the Remote Support Team (e.g., opening racks, locatingdevices/ports, power cycling per instruction).
• Visual verification and reporting (LED status, link status, alarms, fan/power status, cablingcondition).

Network Hands & Feet Engineer must have basic understanding of network devices sufficient to:

• Identify network equipment types, ports, power supplies, up links, and patch panel layouts.
• Follow remote instructions accurately (step-by-step) without deviating from approvedrunbooks.
• Perform basic checks: link lights, port mapping verification, cable reseat, label verification.

Network Device Rack & Stack

• Rack mounting/unmounting of network devices per site rules and safety practices.
• Patch and dress cables to basic professional standard (as instructed).
• Coordinate with Remote Support Team for post-install verification.

Basic Configuration

Perform basic level initial actions (only as instructed by the Remote Support Team), suchas:

• Connecting console and granting remote access session (screen share/terminal accesswhere applicable).
• Executing clearly provided command steps (copy/paste) when approved.
• Applying basic baseline actions (e.g., set management IP/VLAN) only when explicitlyinstructed and approved

Requirements

Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related field (preferred).

2+ years of hands-on experience supporting enterprise network infrastructure.

Basic knowledge of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, VLANs, switches, routers, and firewalls.

Experience with console connections and network device installation.

Familiarity with structured cabling and patch panels.

Ability to follow technical instructions accurately and work within documented procedures.

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with remote technical teams.

Ability to work independently at customer sites.

Willingness to travel to customer locations when required.

• Familiarity with ITIL processes and ticketing systems.
