Job summary

Jobtailor in Dallas, TX seeks an experienced Network Engineer to design, implement, and support enterprise network environments across offices and sites. You will configure routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points, ensure secure remote connectivity, and monitor performance and reliability.

The role requires strong TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPN and network security knowledge, plus hands-on experience with monitoring, change management, and incident response.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • 5+ years of experience administering and supporting enterprise network environments.
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, switching, VPN technologies, wireless networking, and network segmentation.
  • Hands-on experience configuring, deploying, monitoring, and troubleshooting enterprise routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, and related equipment.

  • Provide network engineering and technical support for corporate offices, construction sites, project offices, and distributed locations
  • Coordinate installations and service activations with project managers, construction teams, facilities personnel, vendors, and telecom partners
  • Configure, stage, test, deploy, and maintain network equipment

Job description

  • Design, configure, administer, maintain, and troubleshoot LAN, WAN, wireless, VPN, Internet, and secure remote-connectivity solutions
  • Deploy and support routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, VPN solutions, cabling dependencies, and related network technologies
  • Monitor network availability, performance, capacity, utilization, and connectivity; analyze trends and resolve reliability or user‑experience issues
  • Provide network engineering and technical support for corporate offices, construction jobsites, project offices, temporary facilities, and distributed locations
  • Assess connectivity requirements for new project locations and develop scalable network solutions
  • Coordinate installations and service activations with project managers, construction teams, facilities personnel, vendors, contractors, Internet service providers, and telecommunications partners
  • Configure, stage, test, deploy, and maintain network equipment
  • Troubleshoot network, Internet, Wi‑Fi, VPN, routing, switching, firewall, and connectivity issues remotely; coordinate on‑site support when required
  • Maintain secure connectivity between remote or field locations and the enterprise network
  • Implement and maintain firewall configurations, VPN access, network segmentation, access restrictions, and secure configuration standards
  • Collaborate with Cybersecurity and IT teams on vulnerabilities, security concerns, risk reduction, and remediation
  • Coordinate with third‑party providers to resolve Internet, circuit, telecommunications, hardware, and connectivity incidents
  • Participate in upgrades, refreshes, migrations, new‑site deployments, cloud‑connectivity initiatives, and enterprise technology projects
  • Evaluate network technologies and recommend improvements to reliability, security, performance, resiliency, and scalability
  • Maintain network diagrams, equipment inventories, configurations, standards, procedures, implementation records, and documentation
  • Follow change‑management practices, including validation, communication, rollback planning, and post‑change review
  • Provide technical guidance and escalation support to Service Desk and IT teams
  • Support scheduled maintenance, critical incidents, service restoration, and required after‑hours work
  • Travel periodically to project sites, offices, equipment rooms, and company locations
  • Perform related duties and participate in special projects
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be considered
  • 5 plus years of experience administering and supporting enterprise network environments
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, switching, VPN technologies, wireless networking, and network segmentation
  • Hands‑on experience configuring, deploying, monitoring, and troubleshooting enterprise routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, and related equipment
  • Experience supporting geographically distributed offices, remote locations, construction projects, jobsites, temporary facilities, or comparable field environments
  • Working knowledge of network security principles, firewall policies, secure remote access, access controls, vulnerability remediation, and infrastructure hardening
  • Experience with network monitoring, packet analysis, configuration management, logging, and troubleshooting tools
  • Ability to diagnose complex connectivity issues, perform root‑cause analysis, and deliver sustainable technical solutions
