Job summary

Nelnet, Inc. in Lincoln, Nebraska is looking for an entry-level Network Support Specialist to assist with frontline requests, monitor queues during business hours and provide on-call support for the Enterprise Network team.

The ideal candidate holds an Associate’s degree in Information Science or related field and has foundational knowledge of networks, security principles, firewalls, and network devices. This is an on-site role with strong growth potential and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with technical and non-technical clients.
• Entry level understanding of network and security principles.
• Entry level working knowledge of firewalls (reading rule policies, troubleshooting connectivity issues, etc).
• Entry level working knowledge of network devices, routers, switches, Access Points, etc.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage operational and intake queues during business hours for the Enterprise Network team.
• Provide Oncall operational support during normal business hours for the Enterprise Network team.
• Manage and monitor network monitoring tools.
• Look to automate or "shift left" repeatable or routine functions as possible.
• Create or maintain knowledge base articles and supporting documentation to support training and job responsibilities.
