Job summary

Eastern Mennonite University in Harrisonburg, Virginia, seeks a Network Engineer to design, deploy, secure, and maintain the university's wired and wireless network across campuses. The role ensures high availability and supports academic programs, administrative operations, and campus community needs.

You will collaborate with IT staff, faculty, and vendors, apply firewalls and IDS/IPS, manage VLANs and routing, and participate in disaster recovery planning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field and 5+ years in IT in enterprise settings.
• Experience in higher education is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of routing, switching, wireless, and security.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain campus network infrastructure and cabling.
• Monitor performance, capacity, and security; recommend upgrades.
• Manage VLANs, routing protocols, and network segmentation.
• Support disaster recovery and high availability planning.
