Job summary

Western Kentucky University (WKU) is seeking a highly motivated Network Engineer to join the Network Team in the Infrastructure and Operations Department. You will design, implement, and maintain the university's enterprise network to support students, faculty, staff, research, and campus operations.

The role requires collaboration with IT teams, hands-on work with leading equipment from Aruba, Juniper, and Cisco, and a commitment to reliable, secure networking in a large campus environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience in network engineering, network administration, or a closely related field.
• Experience with Aruba/Juniper/Cisco enterprise platforms.
• Experience with network monitoring and documentation systems within a large-scale environment.
• Knowledge of Ethernet, IP, VLAN, SNMP, DNS, DHCP, and VoIP technologies.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise network infrastructure.
• Install, configure, and support enterprise-class network switches, routers, wireless systems, and related technologies.
• Monitor and optimize network performance, availability, reliability, and security.
• Participate in the planning and implementation of network upgrades, expansions, and modernization initiatives.
• Maintain accurate network documentation, diagrams, standards, and operational procedures.
• Support and maintain network management, monitoring, authentication, and security systems.
