Job summary

Qualifications

• Two years and six months of network infrastructure experience, including one year planning and maintaining local or wide area networks.
• Experience with network device configuration including AAA servers, firewalls, and Network Access Control systems
• One year of experience installing network devices (preferred)
• One year working with Cisco devices (preferred)
• One year managing and configuring switches, VLANs, and routers (preferred)
• Bachelor's degree in computer information technology or related IT field may substitute for some experience requirements

The Network Engineer (Computer Network Specialist II)

The Network Engineer (Computer Network Specialist II) designs, implements, maintains, and supports the Maryland Department of Human Services' enterprise network infrastructure. The role manages the full lifecycle of network devices, handles critical security systems including firewalls and access controls, and performs physical networking tasks while adhering to ITIL-based change management protocols. This is a full-time contractual position (Grade 19) with two openings located at DHS Office of Technology for Human Services in Baltimore.

Key qualifications
