Job Description

Purpose and Scope

The Network Engineer configures, deploys, tests, maintains,monitors and troubleshoots the enterprise network components toprovide a secure, high performance network. Supports the stableoperation of the in-house computer network (LAN/WANinfrastructure). This includes planning, designing, installing,configuring, maintaining, and optimizing all network hardware,software, and communication links while ensuring minimal networkdowntime. The person will also diagnose, resolve, and documenthardware and software network problems for local, off-site and/orremote locations in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide enduser training and support where required. This position is a memberof a 24/7/365 global department.

Essential Job Functions

1. Supports development and implementation of networking projectsand new technology installations
2. Conducts research on network products, services, protocols, andstandards in support of network procurement and developmentefforts, evaluate and recommend for purchase networking hardwareand software products
3. Writes technical specifications for purchase of networkinghardware and software products
4. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of networking contracts andsupervises contract-based installations
5. Installs, configures, tests, maintains, monitors, andtroubleshoots end user workstation hardware, software, networkedperipheral devices, cabling, and networking hardware and softwareproducts
6. Maintains servers, including e-mail, print, and backup serversand their associated operating systems and software
7. Maintains security solutions, including firewall, anti-virus,and intrusion detection systems
8. Maintains all network hardware and equipment, includingrouters, switches, hubs, and UPSs
9. Monitor and test network performance and provide networkperformance statistics and reports
10. Receives and respond to incoming calls, pages, and/or e-mailsregarding network connectivity problems
11. Performs on-site analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complexnetwork problems for a variety of end users, and recommends andimplements corrective hardware and software solutions, includingoff-site repair
12. Recommends, schedules, and performs network improvements,upgrades, and repairs
13. Practices network asset management, including maintenance ofnetwork component inventory
14. Prepares, maintains, and adheres to procedures for logging,reporting, and statistically monitoring network data
15. Liaise with, and provides training and support to help desk support staff on network issues
16. Performs system backups and recovery, and server and securityaudits
17. Provides guidance to junior members of the team asrequired
18. Responsible for other reasonable, related duties asassigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Required working knowledge, basic skills, and the ability tounderstand and follow simple written or oral instructions
• Hands on experience with Cisco Enterprise networking solutions,VOIP environments, and an understanding of WAN technologies andContent networking

Physical Abilities

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably todo the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending;carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; ordriving an automobile. No special physical demands are required toperform the work.

Work Schedule and Conditions

• Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in aMicrosoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other generaloffice equipment
• Interface with internal and external contacts as needed tocarry out the functions of the position
• Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimalexposure to safety hazards

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor¿s degree and 5 years related work experience, or anequivalent combination of education and experience
• Intermediate certification in area of responsibility

Preferred Qualifications

• CCNA, CCNP or CCVP certification

Salary

Hiring salary range is: $80,523 - $92,601
