Job summary

Lone Star College-Westway Park Technology Center in Houston, TX invites applications for a full-time Cybersecurity and Enterprise Networking instructor. Qualifications

  • Minimum of an Associate's degree in Computer Networking or related field.

LSC-Westway Park Technology Center, a satellite center ofLSC-CyFair, is located between Clay and Tanner roads off the SamHouston Tollway. This center will focus on LSC-CyFair's VisualCommunication and Information Technology workforce trainingprograms with certificates and degrees in areas such as Cisco andMicrosoft Networking, Cyber Security, Computer Forensics, Graphicand Web Design, and 3D animation.

Job Description
PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

Provides direction, teaching, and support for Cybersecurity andEnterprise Network course objectives and contributes to theeducational environment of the Lone Star College and the community.Responsibilities include teaching and advising students. Primaryfunctions are to plan, maintain, access, and teach courses withinthe curriculum in a manner that facilitates student success andstudent learning.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  1. Teaches courses in Cybersecurity, CISCO and other enterprisenetwork technologies at a variety of times and locations inresponse to institutional needs, making continuous efforts to improve the quality of instruction by reviewing and utilizinginnovative methodologies, techniques, and delivery methods
  2. Creates engaging lessons that promote student involvement andapplication of the material
  3. Develops and uses a syllabus for each course or laboratorywithin college and departmental guidelines
  4. Evaluates students to measure their progress toward achievementof stated course objectives and informs them in a timely manner oftheir progress in the course. Identifies and assesses student whoare in need of additional instruction to successfully complete thecourse objectives
  5. Responsible for recruiting and advising students in theirarea
  6. Responsible for managing their classrooms and labs, includingassuring lab facilities meet state requirements
  7. Responsible for assisting with student job placement
  8. Works directly with certification agencies to ensure alignmentand high level of program and student success
  9. Responsible for other reasonable related duties asassigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Background in cybersecurity and network security
  • Expertise in enterprise networking technologies

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The work requires some physical exertion, such as long periods ofstanding; walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces; recurringbending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similaractivities; or recurring lifting of moderately heavy items, such astypewriters and record boxes. The work may require specific, butcommon, physical characteristics and abilities, such as aboveaverage agility and dexterity.

WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:
  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in aMicrosoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other generaloffice equipment
  • Internal and external contacts as needed to carry out thefunctions of the position.
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office and/orlaboratory environment with minimal exposure to safety hazards
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must have current industry certifications in network securityand/or cybersecurity, or networking, or be willing to obtaincertification within first 6 months of employment
  • 3 years of industry experience in Cybersecurity or networksecurity technologies
  • Minimum of an Associate's degree in Computer Networking orrelated field
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Current industry certifications in network security and/orcybersecurity, or networking, i.e. CCNP, CAP, GSLC, Security+,CISSP, CASP, CISM,SCCP
Salary

Commensurate with education, experience and qualifications.
