Job Description

Under general supervision, performs standard and some advancedadministrative duties. Generally reports to a Manager-levelposition and provides support to multiple individuals or a department. Activities are generally routine but may involvenon-routine requests or specialized information. Basic duties mayinclude receiving and logging information, making copies, sortingand distributing mail, coordinating office functions, preparingcorrespondence and basic reports, scheduling appointments andmaking travel arrangements, providing information, and contributingto a service-oriented environment.

Essential Job Functions
  1. Progressively utilizes the features of one or more standardbusiness software packages up to the following skill level:
    1. Word Processing : Performs sorts and merges, prints massmailings, selects font attributes and changes
    2. Spreadsheets : Designs routine spreadsheets, sets up routineformulas, and prints desired sections
    3. Databases : Sets up new database files and recommends screenimprovements
  2. Scans mail, arranges in priority order, and distributes to oneor more managers
  3. Screens calls for managers and responds to routinequestions
  4. Schedules tentative appointments for approval by manager, makesroutine travel arrangements; may schedule group meetings and assistwith set-up
  5. Coordinates with other administrative, maintenance, or clericalemployees in own department or throughout the college to accomplishsuch routine activities as ordering supplies, obtaining approvals,and arranging for word processing, document duplication, equipmentrepair, or travel advances
  6. Responsible for safety and maintenance of own equipment; maycontrol or disburse petty cash or monitor expenses charged againstdepartment accounts
  7. May collect data and perform basic mathematical calculations,including assisting with budget documents and records
  8. Some positions may assist in scheduling and inputting classesand/or prepare instructor classroom and project materials
  9. Some positions assist students by handling their requests andproviding routine information
  10. Responsible for other reasonable related duties asassigned

Physical Abilities

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably todo the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending;carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; ordriving an automobile. No special physical demands are required toperform the work.

Work Schedule and Conditions
  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in aMicrosoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other generaloffice equipment
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimalexposure to safety hazards
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED and at least 1 year of experience,or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate degree or higher
Salary

Hiring salary range is $33,540 - $38,571.

Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all postedfull-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fallin that range is determined by your related experience andeducation. Should you receive an offer of employment from Lone StarCollege, the resume submitted in the application process will beutilized to calculate your salary offer.
