Role Summary A Network Engineer supporting an enterprise technology services organization responsible for delivering and maintaining network infrastructure across office and laboratory environments. The role involves supporting project delivery, operational activities, and network modernization initiatives, with a focus on installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and documentation. This position requires a blend of technical expertise and stakeholder collaboration, often involving travel and on-site work.
Responsibilities
- Provide installation, commissioning, and deployment support for network infrastructure in office and laboratory environments.
- Perform rack installation, structured cabling, hardware setup, and network turn-up activities.
- Configure and validate switching, wireless, and firewall platforms to ensure optimal performance and security.
- Participate in network design reviews, site assessments, and bill of materials (BOM) validation processes.
- Conduct wireless surveys, optimize wireless networks, and perform remediation activities as needed.
- Execute moves, adds, and changes (MACs) and support day-to-day network operational tasks.
- Deliver incident response and troubleshooting support during business hours, including onsite interventions.
- Develop, maintain, and update network documentation, standards, and lifecycle management plans.
- Support Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) implementation and wired/wireless 802.1X deployment activities.
- Collaborate with project teams and stakeholders across multiple projects, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and objectives.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5+ years of hands-on enterprise network engineering experience.
- Proven experience with Cisco Catalyst switching platforms and enterprise wireless technologies, including controller-based deployments.
- Hands-on experience with firewall configuration and validation.
- Skilled in rack installation, structured cabling, fiber connectivity, and infrastructure turn-up activities.
- Demonstrated troubleshooting and operational support capabilities for complex networks.
- Ability to produce detailed network documentation and support adherence to network standards.
- Willingness and ability to work onsite regularly at the Rancho Cordova, California office; candidates in the greater Sacramento area preferred.
- Ability and willingness to travel out of state, including trips to Oregon and Vancouver, Canada (estimated 3-6 trips during the engagement).
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work with technical teams and business stakeholders.
- Desired: Experience with Cisco Nexus platforms, Cisco ISE, wireless survey tools such as Ekahau or AirMagnet, and supporting research or laboratory networks.
- Cisco certifications such as CCNA or CCNP Enterprise are a plus.
Publishing Pay Range
$60.00 - $69.00 hourly
